Privacy Policy

Softer Audio is a menu-bar utility that processes system audio in real time on the Mac. We do not operate an audio-processing or analytics server, and the app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDK.

Audio processing

With your explicit macOS System Audio permission, Softer Audio reads currently playing system audio to soften harsh frequency ranges and control excessive peaks in real time. Audio samples are processed in memory, discarded immediately after processing, and never recorded, saved, uploaded, sold, or shared.

Local preferences

Softening strength, processing options, selected apps, and permission-onboarding state are stored in Softer Audio’s local app container. They are not transmitted to us. Uninstalling the app and removing its container deletes these preferences.

Running-app information

When you choose a processing scope, Softer Audio reads the list of running apps locally to show names and route audio. The list is not sent to us or used for analytics, advertising, or marketing.

Trial and purchases

Apple provides the 7-day trial and lifetime unlock through StoreKit. Softer Audio only reads Apple-verified purchase entitlements. We do not receive payment-card details or operate a purchase-account server. Apple’s privacy policy governs Apple’s handling of purchase data.

Data collection and tracking

Softer Audio does not collect personal data, track users across apps or websites, require an account, or contact advertising domains. Information you intentionally send to the support email is used only to answer that request.

Permission and deletion

You can revoke access at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security > System Audio Recording. Softer Audio cannot process system audio after access is revoked. Because we hold no account or cloud data, there is no remote personal data to request that we delete.
