ZipSeek
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026
ZipSeek is a macOS application that searches content inside folders, documents, images, and archives. Text extraction, filename handling, and OCR run on-device.
Data collection
ZipSeek does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. It includes no advertising, analytics, tracking, or user accounts.
File access and local processing
The app accesses only locations the user selects or drops into it. Document content, images, and search results are not uploaded to the developer or a third-party server. ZipSeek does not build a background index of the entire Mac.
Caches and recent activity
To speed up repeat searches, ZipSeek stores regenerable text and OCR caches plus recent locations and searches inside its local app container. The default limits are 256 MB for text and 512 MB for OCR, with 90-day expiry and least-recently-used cleanup. Users can clear this local search data in Settings, and image text recognition can be turned off from the search interface.
Temporary files
Temporary search files are removed when a search finishes. Copies used to resolve nested files or provide previews may remain until the app exits. Stale data left by an abnormal termination is removed on a later launch after the cleanup interval, and can also be cleared in Settings.
Purchases
Apple processes the optional 3-day free trial and one-time ZipSeek Pro purchase through StoreKit and may handle purchase information under its own policies. ZipSeek does not receive payment-card details.
Deleting data
Local ZipSeek search data can be cleared in Settings. Uninstalling the app normally removes its sandbox container; macOS and backup behavior remain under Apple's control.
